Afterwork - Intellectual property: from evaluation to exploitation

Afterwork - Intellectual property: from evaluation to exploitation

How can you monetize a patent when the technology isn't visible in the final product?

In many high-tech industries, patented technology does not always translate into an immediately apparent advantage in the final product. It may lie in a critical manufacturing step, a complex technical architecture, or a key process parameter.

This after-work conference, co-organized by the ALPHA-RLH cluster and the Santarelli law firm, will offer a strategic analysis of the financial valuation of such patents using the DCF approach based on the Relief from Royalty method. It will also demonstrate how the quality of the patent —scope of claims, validity, geographic coverage, fields of application, and technical complexity—directly influences its market value.

- How can one isolate the actual economic contribution of a patented technology that is integrated into a complex process or value chain?

- How can one establish a credible financial valuation when the benefits of the invention are indirect?

- Why is patent quality a key factor in the evaluation model?

This session, which bridges the fields of intellectual property, finance, and value creation strategy, will conclude with a casual “Wine & Cheese” reception designed to facilitate open discussion on the topic.
