Workshop: Protection and Utilization of Digital Assets

Digital assets have always been protected by intellectual property (IP): patents, trademarks, and industrial designs on the one hand; and copyright, database rights, and know-how on the other.

Are these historical rights still sufficient? Generative AI is changing the game: a project that required €2 million in development costs five years ago can now be replicated for a few hundred thousand euros, without constituting a copy under intellectual property law.

The agenda for this workshop organized by ALPHA-RLH and IPSILON :

- Overview of intellectual property rights protecting software and databases.

- Building an IP asset without an examination: analyze the asset, understand the factors driving its creation (originality, investment), and document them.

- No longer focus solely on the “code,” but rather on the entire information system.

A session to understand why historical cost protects short-term accounting assets but exposes the company to the risk of sudden impairment if economic analysis is not conducted in advance, and how to address this issue now.
